RIGS
The rig is the way you present your bait so it is important to pick the best rig for the situation you are in and to get the bait where you want it with the best presentation.
These rigs are some of my favorite. just click on the name to see a more detailed diagram

making a stop knot
You will see a lot of the float rigs have a stop knot on them and This is the easiest way to make a stop knot. this is a thin rubber band placed over the line. then take one end and thread it through the other end, pulled tight and then cut of the excess as shone in the diagram below. this is nice and quick and holds to the line firmly but can be moved with ease

floats are an important part of pike fishing and pencil floats are my favorite kind. I have been making my own for a while know, To see how just click above.
When to strike
This is one of the most important parts of pike fishing. There is only one rule, if the line is moving or the float is moving or going under then the pike must have the bait in its mouth and that means so are the hooks. So strike sooner rather than later to stop deep hooking, as that is one of the biggest curse of pike deaths after returning to the water.
